De Story & Sound Night is een avond vol verhalen en muziek, verteld en gespeeld door Arnhemmers van hier en ver. De muzikale hoofd-act van deze nieuwe editie is de uit Senegal afkomstige Omar Ka!
Omar Ka
De Senegalese Rotterdammer Omar Ka komt van de Fulani, het grootste nomadenvolk van West-Afrika dat een rijke muziektraditie heeft. Samen met zijn vriendengroep Fula Band brengt Omar een onweerstaanbare mix van Fulani folk, Dakar beats, Afro-reggae en Desert blues. De combinatie van zijn excentrieke stemgeluid gitaar, basgitaar en drums met traditionele West-Afrikaanse instrumenten zoals de kamale ngoni (Afrikaanse harp) en de djembé, staan garant voor een eigenzinnig geluid en een dansende menigte.

Cliché, maar waar; muziek is dé universele taal die ons met elkaar verbindt. Tijdens de Story & Sound Night luisteren we naar persoonlijke verhalen van diverse gasten en muziek die inspireert tot het delen van verhalen. Het programma maakt onderdeel uit van het bredere cultuurprogramma Verre binding. Omar Ka
The Senegalese Omar Ka, living in Rotterdam, hails from the Fulani, the largest group of nomadic people of West Africa, known for their rich musical traditions. Together with his group of friends, the Fula Band, Omar delivers an irresistible blend of Fulani folk, Dakar beats, Afro-reggae, and Desert blues. The combination of Omar’s distinctive voice, guitar, bass, and drums with traditional West African instruments like the kamale ngoni (African harp) and the djembe, guarantees a unique sound and a dancing crowd.

It may be a cliché, but it’s true: music is the universal language that connects us all. During the Story & Sound Night, we’ll listen to music that inspires the sharing of stories. This program is part of the cultural initiative Verre binding. With this initiative, art and culture is used to connect people from Arnhem with all varying backgrounds.
